Open Question: How can I register my car in a new state if its not in my name?

My car was bought in Texas under my dad's name. I am currently living in Nevada and have a NV drivers license. But the insurance and registration is for Texas. They just came out with a new law that fines each person $1000 for not having in-state plates. What can I do about registering the car in my name in Nevada if the car is in my fathers name? I have no title, because the car is not paid off. Can I say that I am currently a student in Nevada or will I have to show proof of that as well? Please Help, not sure what I should do?!...
